From the designer: "Traditional Quaker motifs of half medallions border the sampler with some whole medallions and the Carnation motif are typical of Quaker themed samplers. The letters of "WINTER" are spelled out in a Roman style alphabet. Scattered throughout are woodland animals which brings life and interest to the sampler. The circular wreath at the center symbolizes hope and everlasting life. In the circle depicts a small quiet town blanketed with snow. The tranquil scenery and the winter activities romanticizes what the winter season could be."
